Biography


Michelle Vergeer is a freelance painting conservator situated in Amsterdam. She graduated in the summer of 2015 from the University of Amsterdam Master’s programme in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage with a specialisation in Easel Paintings and Painted Objects. Her Master’s degree allowed her to continue in the two year post-graduate track leading to a Professional Doctorate in Painting Conservation in October 2017.


During the post-graduate track Michelle worked at the Stichting Restauratie Atelier Limburg (SRAL) in Maastricht, the Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid and the Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem. After obtaining her Professional Doctorate she established her own studio Vergeer Schilderijenrestauratie in Amsterdam.


In the beginning of 2019 Michelle decided to temporarily move to Copenhagen for a voluntary internship of six months in the conservation studios of the Statens Museum for Kunst. Since her return in the Netherlands Vergeer Schilderijenrestauratie resumed her work in conservation and restoration of paintings for both private and museum clients.


Vergeer Schilderijenrestauratie is a member of the international network of ICOM-CC (International Council of Museums – Committee for Conservation) and a member of the Dutch association for conservation Restauratoren Nederland. Vergeer Schilderijenrestauratie works according to the ethical guidelines of E.C.C.O. (European Confederation of Conservator-Restorers Organisations).
